Partnership for Emergency Planning General Session Announcement: March 17, 2022 (Virtual)

As we kickoff our 2022 General Session programming, we are excited to welcome Matt May, Director of Wyandotte County Kansas Emergency Management.

James Matthew “Matt” May graduated from the University of Kansas with a BS in Journalism in 1986 and moved to Tallahassee Florida in 1988. While there he became involved with the American Red Cross as a Disaster Volunteer and responded to over 30 Disaster Response events in the following years including 10 hurricane responses.

Following the events of 9/11/2001, Mr. May chose to leave a 20 year career in sales to make emergency management his profession. Mr. May is a graduate of the Master Exercise Practitioner Program from the FEMA Emergency Management Institute and received his IAEM Certified Emergency Manager credential in 2013. Mr. May is currently the past Chair of the Metropolitan Emergency Mangers Committee, MEMC, for the Kansas City Metro Area and Co-Chair of the WebEOC and Badging & Accountability subcommittees of MEMC. He is the current Chair of the Area Maritime Security Committee and the Metropolitan Emergency Communications Council.

This General Session will focus on several topics applicable to our members serving organizations across Kansas City Metropolitan Area, to include:

·       Emergency Planning and Response Coordination

·       Large event venues in Wyandotte County

·       EOC set-up and monitoring

·       Relationships with public agencies

·       Scalable response for businesses
